A Call To Join In The Harvest!

Fund Raising Proposal To Purchase The Harvest Family Centre (HFC) Premise at:

235/8 Moo 13 Langsoonratchakan Road, Tambon Naimuang, Amphur Muang, Khon Kaen 40000, Thailand.

Vision Statement of GKWHF To pioneer and promote, encourage and empower movements for unity and community transformation.

Mission Statements of GKWHF To synergize efforts among likeminded groups to touch and transform whole communities. To educate children at risk and strengthen families toward holistic transformation.

Gerald Khoo World Harvest Foundation (GKWHF) was registered as a Charity Foundation with the Ministry of Interior in Thailand on 27 September 2004, after the demise of Ven. Gerald Khoo on December 13, 2003. This foundation was set up in line with Ven. Gerald Khoo’s God-given vision of unity and community transformation. We now have our head office in Khon Kaen and a new branch office in Pattaya.

Our board comprises of:

  • President: Mrs Dorothy Jason
  • Vice President: Mrs Thongbin Loboon
  • Secretary: Miss Chow Wai Keng
  • Treasurer: Miss Sudjai Dankeaw
    Board Members:
  • Mrs Pornsawan Kunakornteeramit
  • Mrs Suwanee Prommakot
  • Miss Marida Boonma
  • Miss Siriporn Sukanjanasiri Mrs Luckana Yenprakon

Miss Chow Wai Keng is also the Executive Director of our Foundation and Mr. Evan Yap is the Head of Education running the Covenant Language School at our main office building in Khon Kaen

GKWHF reaches out to schools, prisons, drug rehabilitation centres, connecting with children, youth and families. When opportunities arise, we work together with other government agencies, non-governmental organizations and groups for the benefit of the community at large. One of our main projects is the Harvest Family Centre in Khon Kaen. (Please read attached report on the activities of the Harvest Family Centre.)

In April 2009 the GKWHF decided not to renew our lease for our main office building, which has also been providing classroom space for the Covenant Language School. The School will no longer need the classroom space at the office building, as most of the operations of the School are being shifted into the community. Under the leadership of Mr. Evan Yap, a Singaporean volunteer, Covenant Language School is now training teachers of English Language on site at the Khon Kaen University, as well as offering consultancy services and running English camps for public schools in Khon Kaen. We will be moving our main office to the Harvest Family Centre when the lease of our main office building expires in September 2009.

However, the usage of the present premise of HFC, which is a rented property, has come into question. The owner of this property mortgaged the property for 3,705,000.00 Baht and defaulted on his payments to the bank. This owner had previously hoped to sell us this property for 3,800,000 Baht (approx. S$165,217), but we had not offered to buy at this price because we felt it was far above market value. We have recently learned that this property will now be auctioned by the Legal Execution Department (Ministry of Justice) on July 29, 2009! We have been told that the bidding will start at 1,852,500 Baht (approximately S$80,000). This property is 643.6 sq m. (6,927.7 sq ft). This means that the property is going for about S$124.30 per square metre or S$11.55 per square foot.

If another buyer purchases this premise, we would likely have to vacate it immediately, and it would be a great loss for GKWHF as well as for the community it serves.

The land at Baan Kota (outside the city) on which we plan to build a training centre will not be developed for use until at least 2011. We need to fill the land to raise the level of the ground and it takes time for the earth to settle before any building can proceed. We are still trusting God for some 30 million Baht (S$1,304,348) to build this training centre. The HFC near the Railway Slum will remain an ideal location to function as our hub to reach the poor, disadvantaged and marginalized even when the training centre at Baan Kota is fully developed.

The Board has decided that on July 29, 2009 we will bid for this property, and we are trusting God that He will grant us an open heaven and supply the necessary funding to secure the property! We have been told that once we have secured the property at the bidding, we will need to pay a deposit of 50,000 Baht (approx. S$2,174) on the spot and then pay up the rest of the selling price within 3 months.

In spite of the world-wide economic crisis, we believe our Heavenly Father wants us not to be bound by the world’s economy but to be released to operate under His heavenly economy. We are not too poor to give and invest for the extension and glory of the Kingdom. Jehovah Jireh!
